Bento takeaway The most popular Bento "Nori-Bento"!! We call "Noriben"!!

Do you know "Nori-Ben" ?

This is a typical Nori-Bento which is the most popular Bento in Japan because it's delicious at an affordable price. This is 390 Yen(tax excluded). I guess It is ideal Bento for backpackers and budget-travelers because you can consume a lot of nutrition.

Please try Japanese rice! Especially the rice called Koshihikari is high quality and delicious with sweet. A supermarket or convenience store has an eating area with a microwave, so you can enjoy your tasty and warm Bento.

★ Trivia ★

The model of "Nori-bento" is the "Nori-okaka Bento" that was popular in the home in the 1950's. It's like a cat's food as sprinkled bonito and soy sauce on top of white rice. Everyone ate when there was no school lunch. When first Hokka Hokka Tei store was opened in 1976, they released it as a "Nori-bento".

☆Let's take a look at the popularity ranking!!☆

◆ 1st place " Hotto Motto " (41.5%)

The amount of fried white fish is bigger and you can choose the taste of the sauce(premium sauce or dashi soy sauce).

The price is 330 Yen(tax included). It's quite affordable.

◆ 2nd place " Hokka Hokka Tei " (24.8%)

In fact, the standard style of "Nori-Bento" was made by Hokka Hokka Tei which is a take-out bento chain store. Other stores are imitating it.

The price is 360 Yen(tax included). It's quite affordable.

◆ 3rd place " Origin lunch " (16.2%)

It's a good value because Tartar Bento contains two pieces of fried white fish, and the size of the chikuwa is large at a very cheap as 297 Yen(tax excluded).

◆ 4th place " Honke Kamadoya " (12.5%)

The fried white fish is so delicious with a soft and fluffy texture. it is affordably priced but would fill your stomach.

The price is 330 Yen(tax included).

◆ 5th place "Other" (5.1%)

Due to the influence of COVID-19, an increasing number of people are refraining from eating out and using take-out. Also, in recent years, each bento chain has been particular about the taste of rice, so you can enjoy various options.

I like Hokka Hokka Tei. The menu is abundant, and the standard menus such as "Karaage bento," "nori bento," and "shake bento" are my favorite. Unlike snacks and desserts, considering that bento is a "meal", I think that low price, safety, appetite, and a sense of stability are important.

What Is Bushido? The Soul of the Samurai Explained

W hat comes to mind when you hear the word “ samurai ”? A brave swordsman in armor? A stoic warrior who lives and dies by honor? While popular culture often focuses on the sword-fighting aspect of samurai, the truth behind their origin, lifestyle, and beliefs is far deeper — and more fascinating. Let’s take a closer look at how samurai came to be, what Bushido really means, and what everyday life was like for these iconic Japanese warriors. H ow Were the Samurai Born? The samurai originated during Japan’s Heian period (794–1185), when aristocrats hired armed guards to protect their estates. These guards gradually became highly skilled in martial arts and warfare and later evolved into a class of professional warriors known as “samurai.” The term  samurai  comes from  saburau  (侍う), which means “to serve.” Samurai were not independent warriors — they were employed by nobles, generals, and eventually shoguns . Those without a master were known as  ronin ....

Why Japan’s Island Geography Shaped Its Culture and History

When we think of Japan , images of sushi, anime, and cherry blossoms often come to mind. But beneath the modern pop culture lies something much deeper: the influence of geography. Japan is an island nation, and being surrounded by the sea has shaped its history, trade, conflicts, and even the way Japanese people interact with one another. Let’s take a closer look at how living on an island made Japan what it is today. The Advantage of Being an Island Unlike continental nations, Japan is separated by the sea, which naturally served as both a shield and a barrier. While land-based countries had to constantly defend porous borders, Japan only had to monitor the sea routes.   On the other hand, launching attacks overseas was costly and risky. Armies required ships, supplies, and manpower. This is why, before the Meiji era , Japan fought only three major international wars: The Battle of Baekgang (663) The Mongol Invasions (1274–1281) Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s Korean campaigns (1592–1...
